What Drives Your Life? (Part 3)

 Let's pick up where we left off, shall we?

  • Materialism: The people with this drive believe they can only be happy with material possessions. This idea isn't accurate, because there will always be newer and better versions of that thing, and once you see that improved version, first start to compare what you have with the improved version. Once you see that the newer version has more features, more options, more functions, better appearance, and others, you start to despise what you have and do whatever it takes to get the better version through fair or foul means. This is a reason why human rituals for money or what we call "juju" are becoming more and more prevalent in Africa. We need to be wary of this drive, learn to be content with what we have, and take our minds to more important things like family, friendships, and most importantly, GOD. Of course, the devil isn't going to just fold his arms and watch you break free from this. That is why you need to seek help from the omnipotent GOD.
  • Fear: Many people are scarred by traumas, unfortunate past events, and others. The people driven by this seldom or never take risks. They are keen on playing it safe. Paul never played it safe, Jesus never played it safe, Moses never played it safe. These people knew about the challenges they would face, but they didn't let that overwhelm them, thus allowing GOD to use them. In 2nd Timothy 1:7, we see that GOD doesn't provide us with fear or anxiety meaning that it comes from Satan. But don't even think about fighting this on your own, pray about it and GOD will surely help you.
  • Need for approval: From trying to please friends and peers to attempting to impress parents, this drives people to let the opinions of other people rule over their lives. They are constantly thinking about what people will think or say about them. They are manipulated like puppets by others. They constantly think, "If I do this and this, they will finally accept me." Let me ask you this if someone constantly criticizes you for the littlest detail, can you confidently say that the person loves you. Think about this and start doing what pleases you and GOD. Live for GOD and not for others. This drive leads to a dead-end of unnecessary stress.
Thank you for your time and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, GOD-willing 2025.

What Drives Your Life? (Part 2)

 Previously, we talked about how some things drive our lives, and as promised, this is the continuation.

Resentment: Many people just can't let go of someone's offense against them. They spend their entire lives just killing themselves about that one offense someone did a year or month ago while that person has let go and probably forgotten about it. A good example is Stephen, the guy was literally being stoned to death, but you know what he did? Instead of storing the anger, he prayed for them. Yes, he prayed for them. This is the kind of attitude that is rarely found in most people but it is very necessary. Here is a prayer for those with this problem;

Dear GOD, help whoever is reading this to overcome this serious problem and finally live for You. We trust and know that You can do this and nothing above You, everything is under Your control so please help this person. In the mighty name of Jesus, your Son, AMEN. Thank you and I wish you a Merry Christmas in advance.

The next hurdles are materialism, fear, and the need for approval. Visit next Sunday to see the elaboration.

What Drives Your Life? (Part 1)

 "To drive"

Several dictionaries explain this phrase as "to guide", "to control", to direct" or to run. It doesn't matter whether you are driving a car, driving a nail, or controlling a character in a video game, at that moment, you are controlling it.

Just as things are driven, our lives too are driven by something. You can be driven by revenge, fear, or doubt. The book states five common ones;

  • Guilt: Many people run away from past regrets and bury themselves in shame. They constantly punish themselves, causing themselves to be disconnected from GOD. But, the Bible gives us many instances where GOD still used people even with their bad history: take Moses for example; he killed someone, but did GOD say that because you murdered so there is no way I'm using you? NO! GOD still used Moses because Moses didn't allow his past to rule over his life. So can you, you are a product of your past but not a prisoner
The next point is revenge. Visit next Sunday to see the elaboration

Thank you.

No Accidents Were Made By GOD

 You aren't an accident. GOD didn't create you by chance but rather planned carefully about your parents, race, country and gender. HE planned who our parents would be and our strengths, weaknesses, and talents. But the question that still stands is why? Why did HE plan as HE did? Why did HE carefully structure our bodies? One word: love. GOD loves us to the extent that the Bible tells us that HE is love. We can't understand it but it is what it is. Another reason we struggle to find our purpose is that, we often undermine ourselves and focus on what people say about us. The book "Questions Young People Ask Answers That Work" says that if we are to judge our beauty, it will be like looking at a distorted mirror, the reflection will be inaccurate. Only GOD can judge our beauty and HIS judgement states that we are all beautiful in HIS eyes. So don't listen to what others say about you just listen to what your creator has to say. Thank you.

It's Not About You

The purpose of your life is not about you. It surpasses your happiness, comfort, career or family. As I  stated in my first post, the purpose of our lives has confused many of us this is because, in the pursuit of finding our purpose, we ask self-centred questions such as; what do I want to do with my life, what are my dreams, what are my plans. This theory may go against popular books and movies, but Rick Warren calls them "self-help books" They help us find what will benefit us, not GOD. Of course, you can be successful if you set your mind to it but still miss the point of your life. Many people also use GOD for their happiness and comfort. Remember, GOD created us and everything on Earth, HE is our manufacturer, we are HIS products, we were made to benefit HIM not vice-versa.

Introduction

 For so many centuries we have wondered what life means, even philosophers and great intellectuals have fumbled on this matter. Dr. Hugh Moorhead, a professor at Northeastern Illinois University, once wrote to 250 of the best-known philosophers to define what life was. Some guessed some admitted that they were clueless, and some even wrote back to him to find out whether he had discovered life's meaning. Life as a subject, could take years and even centuries for man to understand the true meaning of life, but GOD in Heaven hasn't left us to speculate about the meaning of life, so He gave us the Bible as a manual. Because you would only understand how something works with a manual. The Bible clearly states our five earthly purposes, which I will elaborate on in subsequent blogs. Thank you

A special thanks to my mum, Rick Warren and most importantly, GOD.
